Shops on Six is a vibrant new retail and lounge space designed to serve the diverse needs of the Livernois Avenue and McNichols Road corridors. This project, commissioned by Live6 Alliance, a local community development corporation, directly addresses the community's desire for an accessible place to purchase everyday necessities and for local makers to sell their products in a brick-and-mortar setting.
Inclusivity
at the Forefront
Shops on Six sits at the intersection of four neighborhoods with diverse income levels. Working closely with branding firm Aliado Studio, community engagement meetings were held to ensure all voices were heard. The resulting vision was for an elevated yet approachable market and lounge – a space that feels neither like an inexpensive dollar store nor an exclusive high-end shop. Shops on Six is intentionally designed to be inclusive of everyone, regardless of household income, fostering a welcoming environment where community members can shop for essentials, connect with friends, and support local entrepreneurs.
